3 Arrested On Gun, Drug Charges In Raid At Sarasota Home: Police

Three people were arrested on gun and drug charges when a Hillsborough County search warrant was executed at a Sarasota home, police said.

SARASOTA, FL — Three people were arrested on gun and drug charges during a Jan. 8 raid on a Sarasota home, authorities said.

The Sarasota Police Department SWAT, Community Action Team officers and Strategic Investigations Unit detectives executed a search and arrest warrant at the home on 28th Street in conjunction with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office as part of an ongoing investigation.

Officers initially were at the home to serve an arrest warrant for Justus Mills, 20, of Sarasota, who was wanted on four Hillsborough County charges including possession and sale of Glock switches, a gun accessory capable of converting a gun into a fully automatic weapon, Sarasota police said.

While Sarasota officers were at the home, Hillsborough County deputies established probable cause to arrest Gevynn Cisneros, 22, of Sarasota, who was also there, police said.

Both Mills and Cisneros were arrested at the home and charged with three counts of possession and sale of bump stocks, unlawful use of two-way communications, and possession of a firearm by a felony delinquent, police said.

Desman Kennedy, 21, of Sarasota was seen leaving the home and was also arrested. He’s facing a felony charge of lewd and lascivious battery against a victim under 12, police said.

During the warrant, the following items were seized at the home: a semi-automatic shotgun, extended magazines, shotgun ammunition, miscellaneous 9mm and .22-caliber ammunition, marijuana paraphernalia, and 228.9 grams of marijuana.
