ENGLEWOOD, FL — More than a year after being washed out by hurricanes, temporary repairs to Manasota Key Road were completed and the road reopened to traffic on Saturday, Sarasota County officials said in a news release.

This restored access between the north and south ends of Manasota Key.

A portion of the road washed out about 2,000 feet north of Blind Pass Beach Park in 2024 after hurricanes Helene and Milton ravaged the area.

In March, the Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners directed staff to build a temporary roadway while the design and permitting process for a permanent road is underway.

The temporary repairs, made by Sarasota County Capital Projects, included hurricane debris removal, establishment of a new base, shoreline hardening, asphalt pavement and pavement markings, the county said.
