Couple Dies of Apparent Murder-Suicide

Sarasota County Sheriff's detectives say that Ronald Eldredge, 69, and Beverly Eldredge, 67, died of an apparent murder-suicide inside their home in the Bent Tree Country Club

Neighbors couldn’t believe that their friends, the Eldredges, are gone less than 24 hours after detectives roped off the perimeter of their house in the Bent Tree Country Club.

The said Ronald Eldredge, 69, and Beverly Eldredge, 67, died of an apparent murder-suicide inside their home in the Bent Tree Country Club. Detectives said they died of gunshot wounds.

The house at 4210 Carriage Drive is hard to tell apart from all the other condominium homes in the tranquil golf course community.

The outside is tidy with the recycling bins propped against the door as a wind chime gently sounds off in the breeze.

Lisa Moore, 27, was out walking her dog Wednesday morning on the street and recalled how much the couple loved their dog Bella and would drive her in the car.

“They were very special people,” Moore said. “We will miss them.”

Another neighbor described the couple as "truthful" and "intelligent." The two were seen riding their bicycle through the neighborhood, giving no impressions there might be problems inside the home.

“I think it’s a great loss in our neighborhood,” said the woman, who declined to provide her name.

“I have only good things to say about them,” she said.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details.
