UPDATE: Deputies nab Sarasota purse snatcher

Sheriff’s detectives have caught up with a man who Tuesday night attempted to snatch a purse from a woman at the .

Deputies arrested Eric M. Baldy, 20 at 1 a.m. Wednesday in the Bee Ridge Park area on an attempted robbery by sudden snatching charge, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff's Office report..

He was later identified by the victim and a witness as the man who attemped to steal the purse, detectives said.

The victim was confronted by the suspect in the parking lot of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 2926 Wilkinson Road, at 8:39 p.m. Tuesday where the two had a “brief conversation” before the man grabbing the victim’s purse, according to a report.

The man failed to snatch the purse and was seen running from the area until deputies located him this morning.
