Five Things: Sax Man, Artist Walk and Turtles
Mote Marine Laboratory is releasing two endangered turtles this morning from Lido Beach after a successful rehabilitation.
1. Don't give money to strangers. The Sheriff's Office sent out an alert telling people to be aware during the holidays of some typical scams. In the most recent scheme, well-dressed young men posing as students are knocking on doors to ask homeowners to contribute to a fraudulent fundraiser. The men falsely claim they attend a nearby university and ask for money to pay for a school trip.
2. Sax man Kenny G stops in at Van Wezel on Saturday, and tickets are still available. For the younger audience here, and I'm talking much younger than my 27-year-old self, Kenny G played the role of "Uncle Kenny" in Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" music video. You may not have recognized him, because he was playing a tenor sax instead of his usual soprano sax. You're welcome.
3. The as the organization tries to deliver baskets to 1,600 families in Sarasota. The baskets are filled with holiday meals and toys and books.
