Woman Dies From Injuries Days After Sarasota Crash: FL Highway Patrol

A woman died days after turning out of an assisted living facility in Sarasota and into the path of another car, Florida Highway Patrol said

SARASOTA, FL — An 86-year-old woman died at a local hospital Monday, days after a Sarasota crash, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The woman turned out of the Brookdale Phillippi Creek assisted living facility at 5501 Swift Road on Friday at 10 a.m.

At the same time, a 39-year-old Sarasota man was driving north in the left lane of Swift Road, approaching the woman’s car.

The woman turned left in front of his car, which hit the left side of her vehicle, FHP said.

She was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with critical injuries, which she later died from.
The other car’s driver suffered minor injuries in the crash, which remains under investigation.
