2 Seriously Injured in Motor Scooter Crash In St. Pete

​The motor scooter ran a stop sign and struck a vehicle, police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — An investigation is ongoing into a Wednesday motor scooter crash that left two people with serious injuries.

The crash happened Wednesday afternoon in the intersection of 22nd Avenue North and 44th Street, according to St. Petersburg Police.

In a news release, police said two women, 18 and 20 years old, were traveling southbound on 44th Street South when the motor scooter they were riding on ran the stop sign at 22nd Avenue South, drove around a vehicle and struck the side of a vehicle in the eastbound lane.

Both motor scooter passengers were left with serious injuries. Police said the driver of the vehicle was uninjured.
