221 Complaint Calls Prompts Police Raid; Guns, Drugs, Cash Seized

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Twelve lives have been lost to gun violence so far this year in St. Petersburg, and hundreds of complaint calls about a house led St. Pete Police to raid a residence where weapons, drugs and cash were found.

Emily Renee Grot, 36-year-old, was the 12th victim killed during a shooting near Wildwood Park on April 4. Five days earlier, K'Mia Simmons was shot and killed. In 2020, St. Petersburg had a total of 15 homicides, Yolanda Fernandez said.

In an effort to reduce gun violence, detectives conducted a search warrant for weapons Thursday at 900 40th St. South. The following items were found, according to investigators:

  • Six guns confiscated, two confirmed as stolen
  • Heroin (48.8 grams)
  • Cocaine(18 grams)
  • Marijuana (2.6 lbs)
  • Oxycodone
  • $10,000 + cash

Police said they received 221 complaint calls about this address from December 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021. Detectives also observed a great deal of traffic in and out of the house with numerous guns in plain view.

According to St. Petersburg Police, the following were arrested with the following charges:

  • Donte Williams, 25, trafficking in heroin, possession of a controlled substance cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, fleeing and eluding, DWLSR habitual offender, existing warrant for sale of heroin.
  • Russel Jones, 26, possession of heroin
  • Andrew Manuel, 26, possession of oxycodone
  • Raynardo Griffin, 28, Four existing warrants for his arrest
  • Kendra Kine, 33, felon in possession of a firearm, child neglect

A 16-year-old boy drove up to the house in a stolen vehicle after the search warrant was executed, detectives said. He faces auto theft, possession of ammunition and violation of probation for prior vehicle theft.
