2nd St. Pete Shooting In A Day Under Investigation

St. Petersburg Police are investigating a second Monday afternoon shooting.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating a second Monday shooting involving a middle-aged man. Although the crime has similarities to one reported earlier on Monday, authorities say the two shootings are not related.

The second case was reported around 4 p.m. June 5 when authorities were called to a home in the 2500 block of 31st Street South. When they found a middle-aged man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Police say the man was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.

A similar shooting occurred just before 12:30 p.m. in the area of 15th Avenue South and 45th Street. The man in that case also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Further information about the shootings is not yet available. Police have not released the names of the victims or suspect information. Authorities have said the two cases are not connected.
