3 People Rescued After Boat Capsizes In St. Pete

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue crews plucked three people out of the water near the Dick Meisner Bridge Tuesday morning.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Three people are back on land after a small boat capsized near the Dick Meisner Bridge Tuesday morning.

According to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, its crews were called out to the waters near the bridge after a small boat capsized “due to weather conditions.” Three people were thrown into the water after the boat overturned, the agency said.

Rescue crews on the St. Petersburg Marine Team’s Fire Boat 11 were able to pull all three people out of the water safely. The people on the boat have not yet been identified, but fire rescue said the victims were two adult males, ages 46 and 32, and a 9-year-old boy.

The three were being evaluated by emergency crews as of 9:30 a.m. March 14.

No further information is available at this time. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, fire rescue noted in an email.
