Guinness World Record Ice Cream Scoops Goes To Beans & Barlour
National Ice Cream Day was more than just about the cold treat for a shop in St. Pete. They celebrated big by breaking a world record.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Update: Beans & Barlour brought a Guinness World Record home to St. Petersburg Sunday after the most people ever gathered at Al Lang Stadium to simultaneously scoop ice cream on National Ice Cream Day.
More than 500 people were there to help break the record, according to the boozy ice cream shop.
"What a truly epic day," the staff wrote on Facebook."We are so proud to being this Guinness World Record home to the Burg. Thank you so much to everyone who braved the the heat to help us beat the previous World Record held by Dairy Queen China!"

Dairy Queen China holds the record with 270 people who dished up the sweet treat in June 2015.
Beans & Barlour told Patch it has 550 participants ready for Sunday's scooping event. The entire record attempt, audience included, has reached maximum capacity at Al Lang Stadium.
However, if you registered to participate and can't make it Sunday, the organizers ask that you give your ticket to someone who can attend so the number of those scooping up ice cream stays at 550, which will ensure the record is broken. Check Beans & Barlour's Facebook page for locals offering to take a ticket that won't be used. Boozy ice cream will be served to participants 21 years old and older with a valid ID.
Two St. Petersburg residents, Petya Getsova and Jacqlyn Cristani, stopped into the ice cream shop's new location, 407 Central Ave., that opened in June to pre-celebrate the Guinness World Record-breaking attempt.
"This place is so awesome," Cristani said as she enjoyed a chocolate factory shake. "Sunday's event is going to be epic. I'd attend if I had a ticket."
Getsova said they plan to stop by the store Sunday because what better excuse is there to have ice cream than on National Ice Cream Day. They make it easy so you don't have to decide between liquor and ice cream.
Participants will receive a commemorative ice cream scoop. Starting time for the event at Al Lang Stadium, 230 First Street Southeast, St. Petersburg, is 11 a.m., and ends at 1 p.m. For more information, visit Beans & Barlour.
