Beloved FL British Pub Will Close Because Landlord Plans To Sell Building
A Grand Central District restaurant will close its doors this summer after the landlord decided not to renew its lease.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A beloved local British restaurant, The Studio Public House, will close its doors later this summer after its lease wasn’t renewed, the owners wrote in a Monday morning Facebook post.
There is no set closing date yet for the eatery, which is located at 2950 Central Ave.
We have just received devastating news that our landlord has decided to sell our building for development,” the owners, husband-and-wife team Mike and Alison Crippin, wrote. “We had already agreed earlier this year on terms on the second five years on our 10-year agreement and considered it a done deal.”

The landlord’s change of heart leaves the restaurant “in lease limbo and financially a bad spot,” the Crippins said.
They plan to look for a new location for the restaurant.

“It's been a great (five) years in a great neighborhood supported by guests we now consider friends and staff we consider family,” they added.
The Crippins also asked for the community’s assistance.
“Please support our staff if there are jobs available and listen out for new spots or options for us,” they wrote.

Prior to the Studio Public House, Mike was the executive chef for another local favorite, Moon Under Water that was previously on Beach Drive. Cevich eventually took over that space.
In March, it was announced that the Crippins are partnering with Kevin and Jeanne Milkey, owners of Grand Central Brewhouse, to revive Moon Under Water in a new location.
