Body Found At Weedon Island During Search For Missing Teen: Police

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A body was found deep in the Weedon Island Preserve on Friday during a search for a missing teenager, St. Petersburg police said in a news release.

Because of the condition of the body, detectives were unable to confirm it was the missing 17-year-old boy, Allister Nasr.

The Pinellas County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and try to identify the body, police said.

Nasr has been missing since March 1, when he left his home on bicycle near the 6500 block of Bayou Grande Boulevard Northeast around 10 a.m.

The bicycle was found Wednesday around 1 p.m. in the area of 94th Avenue North and San Martin Boulevard Northeast, south of Gandy Boulevard, near the preserve.

Officers have searched Weedon Island on foot, by drones, by helicopter, by boat and using thermal imaging since the bicycle was found.

A park ranger found some personal items and a helicopter was brought in again late Friday, when the remains were found, police said.

Allister was last seen wearing blue shorts, a gray sweatshirt, and white shoes, and was carrying a black backpack on his back.

Shortly after leaving his home, he dropped off the black backpack on a nearby school campus and switched to a red backpack, police said.
