Boy Threatened Shooting At High School: St. Pete Police

A 17-year-old boy made a social media post threatening a shooting at Northeast High School, St. Pete police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 17-year-old boy was arrested after threatening a shooting at Northeast High School, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.

The 11th-grader was charged with making a written threat to kill or conduct a mass shooting.

The student made a threatening social media post, implying a potential shooting at the school, police said.

“St. Petersburg police make the safety of students a top priority and any weapon on campus, or other threat to school safety, will be thoroughly investigated. This serves as a reminder to students that the police department takes these matters very seriously and the consequences could be severe,” the agency said.
