Man Goes Out On Boat In Bad Weather, Boat Sinks, Coast Guard Responds
A boat crew from U.S. Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg launched into Tampa Bay Thursday for a rescue call involving a sinking boat.

TAMPA BAY, FL — Weather conditions possibly caused a boat in Tampa Bay Thursday to start sinking, according to Coast Guard officials.
A man out on his boat called for help as water began to pour inside the boat near MacDill Air Force Base, a news release said. A tornado watch had been issued for the Tampa Bay Region by the National Weather Service Thursday morning that would expire at 5 p.m.
"With adverse weather in the area, we advise boaters to check their vessels and safety gear before getting underway," Petty Officer First Class Brian Haley, operations specialist at Sector St. Petersburg, said. "Boaters should know the limitations of their vessels and stay off the water if possible."
