Dali Museum Reduces Admission On Saturday to $10
The museum will close early to hold a fashion show and gala Saturday evening.
ST PETERSBURG, FL - The Dali Museum will reduce its ticket prices to $10 on Saturday because it is closing early, at 2 p.m. Saturday’s admission price is more than half off the regular $24 ticket cost for adults. Museum officials say the early closing time is due to a fashion show and gala being held Saturday night for the upcoming exhibition: “In Daring Fashion: Dali and Schiaparelli.”
Visitors taking advantage of the early tickets prices can view the permanent collection beginning at 10 a.m. The reduced admission is not available online. "Dalí and Schiaparelli" opens to the public on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
The exhibition of Salvador Dali and Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli will feature haute couture gowns and accessories, jewelry, paintings, drawings, objects and photos, as well as new designs by Bertrand Guyon for Maison Schiaparelli. This will be the first exhibition dedicated to the creative relationship and works of Elsa Schiaparelli and Salvador Dali – who were friends and collaborators.

Schiaparelli was regarded as the most prominent figure in fashion between the two World Wars. Her designs subverted traditional notions of women’s roles and beauty, according the museum’s website.
Schiaparelli explored surrealistic themes in her designs, heavily influenced by artists, especially Dali, with whom she often collaborated. The vibrant colors, experimental fabrics and elegant handmade decorations set her apart from other designers of the 1920s and 1930s. Some of the most notable clients for Schiaparelli’s haute couture designs included the Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson; heiress Daisy Fellowes and actresses Mae West and Marlene Dietrich.

The gala event will allow guests a glimpse into the world of haute couture. The black tie affair will begin with a fashion show featuring contemporary Schiaparelli designs followed by a dinner reception. A more casual celebratory Sunday brunch will be held the following day.
The exhibition is organized by The Dali, in collaboration with Schiaparelli, Paris with loans from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum and others.
