Deputies Arrest Man In St. Pete Shooting: Deputies

A woman was ​transported to Bayfront Health St.Petersburg for non-life-threatening injuries.​

ST. PETERSBURG - A Kenneth City man was arrested after a shooting at Sunshine Mobile Home Park on Thursday night left a 20-year-old St. Pete woman injured with a gunshot wound to her abdomen, deputies said. Erica A. Platt was transported to Bayfront Health St.Petersburg for non-life-threatening injuries.

Tyson H. Garcia, 20, was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling, deputies said.

Witnesses told deputies the incident started about 10:55 p.m. when 21-year-old Brandon Tartaglia started a fight with 17-year-old Tyler Garcia and Tyson Garcia at 5000 28th Street North, Lot No. 21 at the mobile home park. After the initial altercation, Tartaglia returned to Lot No. 23. Deputies say Tyler Garcia, Tyson Garcia, and another man walked to Lot No. 23 where a second fight took place outside the residence.

Witnesses told deputies Tyson Garcia took out a handgun and shot Platt who was standing in the doorway of the residence watching the fight. Tyson Garcia then fled the scene with the handgun.

Deputies found Tyson Garcia and took him into custody without incident. The handgun was not recovered. Tyson Garcia was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

Tartaglia was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail. He was charged with one count of battery for striking Tyler Garcia during the fight.

Deputies say it's still unclear what started the altercation.
