DUI Wolf Pack To Prowl Pinellas County
Law enforcement officers across Pinellas County are teaming up to take impaired motorists off the roads this weekend.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Motorists with Cinco de Mayo party plans in Pinellas County will want to make sure to designate a driver before knocking back one margarita too many. Law enforcement agencies across the county have announced plans to hit the road Friday night for a DUI Wolf Pack operation.
According to the sheriff’s office, the May 5 operation will hit the road at 7 p.m. and is set to continue through 5 a.m. Saturday, May 6. In addition to the sheriff’s office, the St. Petersburg, Tarpon Springs, Clearwater, Largo and Kenneth City police departments, and the Florida Highway Patrol intend to take part.

“The operation is part of the Pinellas County Sheriff's ongoing commitment to reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving,” the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media. “The goal of the Wolf Pack is to educate people and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.”
In Florida, motorists are considered impaired when their blood alcohol content levels are 0.08 or higher. Drivers under the age of 21 are considered impaired with BACs of 0.02 or higher.
