DUI Wolf Pack Set For St. Patrick’s Day

The St. Petersburg Police Department is gearing up to keep impaired motorists off local roads this St. Patrick's Day weekend.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Motorists with St. Patrick’s Day party plans in the St. Petersburg area will want to designate a driver before indulging in too much green beer. The St. Petersburg Police Department is teaming up with the Florida Highway Patrol to conduct a crackdown on impaired drivers this Friday.

According to the police department, the Wolf Pack Saturation Patrol will begin Friday night, March 17, with enhanced enforcement planned through Saturday morning. The agency isn't saying what hours the patrol will be active. Officers and troopers intend to hit roads throughout the city, looking for impaired drivers, the agency did say.

“This operation is part of the St. Petersburg Police Department's commitment to reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving,” the department explained in an email. “The goal is to reduce injuries, educate citizens and create public awareness about the dangers of impaired driving.”
