Ex-Poetry Prof to Run for St. Pete City Council

A former adjunct professor who taught poetry at University of South Florida is running for St. Petersburg City Council, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Alex Duensing is running for the District 8 seat that will be vacated by Jeff Danner due to term limits, the Times reports.

Duensing taught poetry for two years at USF, and also has an advanced degree in poetry from Columbia University in New York. He describes his current occupation as consultant.

Duensing would favor a citywide vote on the future of the Pier and on any development that would require a lot of tax dollars, according to the article.
