Cabbie Killed, Taxi Stolen In St. Pete
St. Petersburg Police say a United Taxi of Clearwater cabbie was killed in a Thursday morning stabbing.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A Thursday morning stabbing in St. Petersburg that left a cab driver for United Taxi of Clearwater dead is under investigation by authorities. St. Petersburg Police say the man's taxi was also stolen, but was later found abandoned.
Police officers were called to the parking lot of a Citgo gas station on the corner of 38th Avenue North and 28th Street around 1 a.m. June 1. When they arrived, they found John Andrew Hutchens, 59, of Pinellas Park suffering from stab wounds. Hutchens was on the ground in the parking lot of the closed station, according to an email from police.
Officers began lifesaving measures, but Hutchens died at the scene, the email said.

Police say the suspect took off in Hutchens' cab. The cab was later recovered near 47th Avenue North and 71st Way.
