Jeffrey Danner, a former St. Petersburg City Council member, was charged with digital voyeurism, police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A former St. Petersburg City Council member was accused of hiding cameras in an air vent so he could watch a woman while she was in the bathroom, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department arrest affidavit.

Jeffrey Danner, 64, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of digital voyeurism.

The victim, who knew Danner, was staying with him at his Dartmouth Avenue. N. home.

While she was showering, she noticed cameras in the bathroom air vent, police said. One camera was pointing at her in the shower, while the other was pointing at the toilet.

She took pictures of the cameras and confronted Danner in a text message.

He texted her back that he “realized how stupid and perverted it was. And didn’t connect them,” according to the affidavit.

In a controlled phone call with police, Danner admitted to putting the cameras in the bathroom and said “that it was a stupid idea.” He also apologized to the victim.

After his arrest, he admitted again to installing the hidden cameras and told officers that it was “a stupid idea and (that he) regrets the decision,” police said.

Danner, who represented District 8, lost his reelection bid in 2021 to Richie Floyd, WFLA said.
