2 Lakewood High Students Arrested After Gun Found Near Campus
Lakewood High was under lockdown Monday morning after reports of a weapon on campus.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Two 16-year-old Lakewood High students were arrested and face felony charges after reports of a gun on campus placed the school on lockdown Monday morning, according to police. The teens will be charged with possession of a weapon on school campus and aggravated assault. They are not being named because of their age.
The school was placed under lockdown Monday after several students alerted the school resource officer to a Snapchat video showing a teen on campus with a gun. A gun was found in a backpack near the school’s campus, according to police.
A message went out to Lakewood High parents asking them not to travel to the school because police were investigating a safety threat. The school was initially placed on lockdown when the incident was first reported about 9:30 a.m. The lockdown status was changed to a lockout around 11:30 a.m. before it was finally lifted about noon. Police announced Monday afternoon that they had identified all students involved in the incident.
