Michelin Restaurant Guide To Expand Into 3 New FL Cities In 2025

FL's Michelin Guide will expand to include restaurants in the greater Fort Lauderdale area, the Palm Beaches, the St. Pete-Clearwater area.

FLORIDA — The Michelin Guide in Florida will expand its selection in the Sunshine State with three new destinations being added this year, according to a news release.

The guide will now include the greater Fort Lauderdale area, the Palm Beaches, and the St. Petersburg-Clearwater area.

Then, starting in 2026, the guide will grow further to include restaurants from throughout the entire state, the news release said.

The Michelin Guide launched in Florida in 2022 as a partnership with Visit Florida and initially focused on Miami, Orlando and Tampa.

“Florida continues to raise the bar with its emerging culinary talent, international influences and the palpable passion of its local restaurant communities,” Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guides, said. “Over the past three years, we’ve seen the Florida selection grow and strengthen as our Inspectors shined a spotlight on their discoveries. We look forward to exploring these new destinations and highlighting the excellence of their local restaurant scene.”

The guide’s anonymous inspectors are already in the field, making dining reservations and scouting for culinary gems in the new territories.

These inspectors will make their selections for the guide based on five universal criteria: quality products, the harmony of flavors, the mastery of cooking techniques, the voice and personality of the chef as reflected in the cuisine, and the consistency between each visit and throughout the menu, according to the news release.

The full 2025 restaurant selection will be revealed later this year at the annual Michelin Guide ceremony for Florida.

"The Michelin Guide's expansion into three additional Florida destinations in 2025 and statewide in 2026 further cements the state as a premier culinary destination for both locals and visitors. Florida's rich and diverse culinary scene has long been a cornerstone of the vacation experience, and we are thrilled that more talented chefs and exceptional restaurants across the state will now receive the recognition they deserve," Dana Young, president and CEO of Visit Florida, said.
