Mom Loses Unborn Baby In St. Pete Crash: Troopers
Criminal charges are pending for the suspect who drove the incorrect direction on a St. Petersburg street Monday morning.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A pregnant woman lost her baby after she was seriously injured in a car crash Monday morning in St. Petersburg, Florida Highway Patrol said.
A 46-year-old man of St. Petersburg drove the wrong direction in the westbound lanes of 54th Avenue North near 43rd Street North investigators said. When he got to the 4200 block of 54th Avenue North at 5:41 a.m., he crashed head-on with the 32-year-old expectant mother's car. She experienced serious injuries, and the injuries caused the death of the unborn baby, detectives said.
The name of the man driving the incorrect direction hasn't yet been released by police. Authorities said criminal charges are pending in the crash. He experienced minor injuries.
