Motorcycle Rider Killed In Crash With Tow Truck In St. Pete

Police detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash

ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Police detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash involving a 55-year-old motorcycle rider and a 32-year-old tow truck driver Eric A. Danford.

Both the motocycle and the truck were travelling southbound on 34th Street South when the motorcycle tried to pass the tow truck as it changed lanes to turn right. The motorcycle rider hit the passenger-side mirror, throwing him from the bike. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by St. Petersburg Fire Department medics.

Danford stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The identity of the victim will be released pending notification of next of kin.
