Bay Point Elementary Assistant Principal Recognized For Superior Leadership Skills

An elementary school staff member in St. Petersburg has received an award recognizing her leadership contributions to the community.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Two Pinellas County school staff members recently have been recognized by the county school board for their leadership efforts.

Suzanne Hester, who started her career with the county school district in 2002, received the 2022 Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership. She is the principal at Skyview Elementary School, 8601 60th St. N., Pinellas Park, and has been a leader there since 2012, according to a news release.

Bay Point Elementary School Assistant Principal Dawn Lewis received the 2022 Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership. She has been employed at the school, 5800 22nd Street South, St. Petersburg, since 2018. She joined Pinellas County Schools in 2000.

These two school leaders have consistently shown superior skills in their work with students, staff their school community to help create a positive culture in their schools, board members said in a news release.

The Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership was established in 1988 to recognize exemplary principals for their contributions to their schools and communities, according to Pinellas County school staff. The program honors principals who have spearheaded initiatives to increase student performance and promote safe learning environments, often through establishing partnerships with parents and community members.
