Pedestrian Crash Closes Martin Luther King Street; Witness Sought
A 17-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle Monday morning.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — UPDATE: MONDAY, MARCH 20, 9:53 a.m.
The St. Petersburg Police Department is looking for a possible witness to an accident that occurred at 7:07 a.m. this morning near 55th Avenue North and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Street North, and seriously injured a 17-year-old girl.
The teen was walking across Dr. MLK Street North, from west to east, when she was struck by a northbound red Buick Rendezvous.

"There may have been a person riding a motorcycle or a scooter at this location that may have witnessed this accident," police said, asking that the individual contact the St. Petersburg PD at (727) 893-7780.
The investigation is ongoing.

Motorists are being asked to steer clear of a stretch of Martin Luther King Street North following a Monday morning crash involving a pedestrian.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, the accident occurred in the 5400 block of Martin Luther King Street North. A 17-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle. She suffered “very serious injuries,” the agency reported in an email to media.
The road is closed in both directions in the 5400 block, police said. It is unclear how long the closing will last.
No further information, including the girl’s name, is being released at this time.
