ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Detectives hope to identify a person of interest in a fatal shooting Wednesday morning at Kings Meat Market, St. Petersburg police wrote in a Facebook post.

The shooting happened just after 8:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of 34th Street S.

When officers arrived, they found 42-year-old Deon Bell with a gunshot wound. He was brought to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Investigators are asking for public assistance in identifying the man, who was last seen in the 1300 block of 34th Street S. after the shooting.

Anyone with information about the person of interest or the fatal shooting is asked to call police at 727-893-7780 or text "SPPD" and their tip to TIP411.
