Police: Man Shot Riding His Bike In Pinellas Park

A 44-year-old Kenneth City man was shot Monday night as he rode his bike in the 6600 block of 62nd Avenue North, police said.

PINELLAS PARK, FL. - A 44-year-old Kenneth City man was shot Monday night as he rode his bike in the 6600 block of 62nd Avenue North, police said. The man was critically injured in the shooting.

The bicyclist was identified as John Chesterfield Asch, a homeless man living in the Kenneth City area. Pinellas Park officers responded to a call about a bicycle accident at 7 p.m. The man was transported to a St. Petersburg hospital for treatment. Officers were later notified that Asch had suffered a single gunshot wound.

Detectives continue to work the scene looking for evidence that will help identify the gunman.
