
St. Petersburg Police shot an aggressive German Sheppard on Jan. 19 while responding to an animal complaint.
According to police the dog escaped from a home at 1719 11th Ave. N and then a neighbor witnessed a person being bit by the dog.
The bitten victim, with another neighbor’s assistance, was able to flee the area. Officers responded and attempted to subdue the dog to get it back in its yard, but it was too aggressive and continuously charged at the officers.

Police said an officer discharged one shot.
The dog was struck, and it was taken to an animal hospital. The injury to the dog is not life threatening. Dog's owner has been notified, police said.
