Rainbow Flag Set To Fly Over St. Pete
Mayor Rick Kriseman is set to kick off St. Pete Pride weekend festivities by raising a rainbow flag over City Hall on Thursday.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — St. Petersburg area residents and visitors excited for the kickoff of Pride Weekend festivities don’t have much longer to wait. Mayor Rick Kriseman has announced plans to raise the rainbow flag over City Hall this Thursday.
The flag-raising ceremony is set to take place at 10 a.m. June 22 at 175 Fifth St. N. Kriseman also intends to introduce his new volunteer LGBT liaison, according to city officials.

St. Pete Pride is technically a month-long celebration that culminates with a big weekend bash that includes a benefit concert, parade and street festival. This year’s parade steps off on Bayshore Drive Saturday, June 24. The Grand Central District will once again play host to the street festival on Sunday.
Friday’s SP2 Concert gets under way at 7 p.m. at North Straub Park, 400 Bayshore Drive N.E. The event is free to enter, but does serve as a fundraiser for numerous community organizations. The lineup includes Melissa Crispo, Geri X and The Spazmatics. More details can be found on the St. Pete Pride website.

Saturday’s festivities kickoff starting around 2 p.m. in the downtown waterfront area. The illuminated light parade steps off at 6:30 p.m. on Bayshore Drive. Live music is also planned throughout the day on the Wells Fargo Stage. The lineup is as follows:
- 2:30 p.m.: Karmic Tattoo
- 3:20 p.m. Rolando Xavier
- 4:05 p.m. Christopher Thomas
- 4:35 p.m. Derek Dean
- 5 p.m. Panamory
- 6 p.m. Jennifer Real

Sunday’s Pride Fest gets under way at 9 a.m. in the Grand Central District and runs until 4 p.m. There’s no cost to enter the festival that is expected to draw more than 50,000 people.
