ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A new restaurant has opened its doors for business in St. Petersburg.

Salty Nun, which is at 2501 Central Avenue, celebrated its soft opening Thursday evening with a limited brunch and dinner menu.

"We have combined the famous breakfast restaurant, Stella’s, and your favorite Gulfport local bar, Salty’s," reads a description of the restaurant on Salty Nun's Facebook page. "Our venue includes a varietal breakfast menu, with highlighted Stella signature menu items, and a local bar with great drinks and live music!"

The location was the previous home to Swinger’s Bar & Grille, however, Barbara Banno and J.P. Brewer purchased and closed it on Jan. 10, according to The Gabber.

The restaurant's name, Salty Nun, is inspired by Banno's great aunt who was, in fact, a nun.

"Some of her greatest memories are of her cooking in the kitchen with her Aunt Stella, and what inspired her to open Stella's," a social media post by Salty Nun reads. "Naming it after her aunt was easy because she wanted a place where her customers would feel like family and the food would remind them of home."

And now Salty Nun will have a piece of Aunt Stella at her new location.
