Modified Fund Gives Increased Assistance To Duke Energy Customers Struggling To Pay Bill
A program modified by Duke Energy launched on Giving Tuesday helps financially struggling customers afford their electricity bill.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A modified program, Share the Light Fund, launched on Giving Tuesday by Duke Energy provides increased financial assistance to customers who have financial trouble paying their energy bills, a news release said.
“Increasing fuel costs and colder temperatures mean higher energy bills," Barbara Higgins, senior vice president and chief customer officer, said. "With many customers still recovering from the negative economic impacts of the pandemic, providing assistance to our vulnerable customers is more important than ever. The Share the Light Fund makes it easier for customers to give and get help.”
If you are a customer who would like to give help by donating, the Share the Light option is available on your monthly bill. Duke Energy said it's pledging to match up to $1 million in contributions to the fun in Florida in 2021. It is formerly known as Energy Neighbor Fund.

Share the Light Fund gives customers an opportunity to help others donating via the Share the Light Fund option on their monthly bill. Duke Energy said it's pledging to match up to $1 million in contributions.
Duke Energy Florida works in partnership with agencies to distribute funds to qualifying customers to pay energy bills, deposits and reconnection/connection charges.

Customer contributions
Duke Energy Florida customers who would like to contribute to the Share the Light Fund can do so beginning on Giving Tuesday. Customers can round up their bill to the next closest dollar, set up a recurring payment, make a one-time donation, include an additional amount in the designated area of their bill and add that amount to their payment or mail in a separate check made payable to the Share the Light Fund.
