"Massive servings at this Dania Beach ice cream shop are just one of the reasons Floridians love Jaxson’s, and travelers to the Fort Lauderdale area will not want to miss out," the magazine editors wrote. "The Zagat-rated shop has one of the country’s largest collections of rural American memorabilia, including an automobile license plate collection. Fans of food trivia should definitely stop in for a scoop or two."
Located at 128 S. Federal Hwy., Jaxon's is a culinary gem that has been cherished by locals and visitors alike for decades, the magazine said. Founded in 1956 by Monroe Udell, Jaxson’s is now owned by Linda Udell Zakheim, the daughter of the founder.
All the shop's ice creams, sherbets, yogurts, and toppings are prepared daily on-site, following the old-fashioned, unhurried batch-by-batch method.
Jaxon's is open every day from 11:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; from 11:30 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday; and from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday.
