South Florida Man Found Guilty Of International Money Laundering

Cornelius Singleton brought nearly $1.1 million in cash to St. Petersburg to be delivered to Colombian drug traffickers, authorities said.

ST. PETE, FL — A federal jury found a south Florida man guilty Monday of two counts of international money laundering.

Cornelius “Neal” Singleton, 60, of Miramar faces up to 20 years in prison on each count.

According to testimony and evidence presented at trial, on March 28, 2020, Singleton delivered more than $660,000 in cash he intended to have delivered to members of a group of suspected large-scale narcotics traffickers in Colombia.

After the successful delivery was made in Bogota, Colombia, in June 2020, negotiations began with Singleton for additional deliveries of cash to be delivered to Colombia.

In June 2021, Singleton brought nearly $1.1 million in cash to downtown St. Petersburg to be delivered to the same individuals in Colombia. Federal authorities said they arrested Singleton at that time.

Singleton will be sentenced at a later date.

He was originally indicted on July 13, 2021.
