St. Pete Bans 'Spice'

St. Petersburg City Council voted to ban all "Spice" or synthetic marijuana products.

Starting today, businesses in St. Pete are banned from selling all "spice" products regardless of whether or not the package contains chemical compounds that are illegal according to Florida State Statute 893.

According to police, "Spice" or K-2 is only illegal if the contents include illegal chemicals prohibited by Florida State Statute 893.

St. Petersburg City Council created a stronger ban by targeting packaging, etc.

The ban prohibits shops from selling all "Spice" or synthetic marijuana and prohibits people from buying or selling it, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Council Member Bill Dudley stated prior to the vote, "I hope we send a message out that this will not be tolerated in our community," according to the Times.
