St. Pete Fire Rescue Gets Ready To Hire Firefighters/EMT Trainees

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — If you aspire to become a certified firefighter, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue will soon hold information sessions about its fire cadet training program.

Selected candidates will be paid a full-time salary percentage (80 percent) while attending certification courses, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue said. Candidates will train for State of Florida examinations for firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Every cadet who passes the Florida Minimum Standards Certification for firefighters and the Florida EMT Certification within the required time frame will be offered positions as firefighter/EMT with St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, according to officials.

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be drug and tobacco free
  • Have a high school/GED diploma
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Be a Pinellas County resident
  • Be able to meet the physical and mental demands of the training and position

To find out more information about cadet training, attend one of the following sessions:

  • Session 1: April 10 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Session 2: April 10 at 1:30 p.m.
  • Session 3: April 17 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Session 4: April 17 at 1:30 p.m.

Sessions will take place at The Coliseum, 535 Fourth Avenue N., St. Petersburg, FL. Masks are required to be worn during sessions, and social distancing will be practiced, its website said. For additional information, visit www.stpete.org/jobs
