The Best Thing I Ate This Week: Pan Fried Trout

As part of the Vinoy's Winter Classic menu, the Pan Fried Trout was impeccable.

I hate to admit this: I am a St. Pete native but had never dined at the Vinoy Park Hotel.

Fortunately, that changed Thursday afternoon, when I – along with other members of the media – were invited to sample some of the new menu options at the historic downtown hotel.

Of all the plates, my favorite was the Pan Fried Trout: the preparation was creative, the flavor light and fresh-tasting. Yet I left satisfied without feeling overly full.

The trout was cooked to perfection – just moist enough. It was arranged between rice and french green beans, with an apple and almond salad on top. Brown butter was drizzled over the plate for a flavorful addition to the meal. Healthy. Scrumptious. Just right. It hit the spot.
