Suspect Accused Of Robbing, Killing Transient Man In St. Pete: Police
The suspect faces a second degree murder charge among others.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Detectives arrested a man who is accused of robbing and killing a transient man on charges of second degree murder Sunday, St. Pete police said.
A 42-year-old man, the victim, had been robbed and beaten near the parking lot at 3077 50th Ave. S, St. Pete by 36-year-old Gary Nickole Washington Jr. just before 5 p.m. Saturday, investigators said.
Medical treatment had been refused by the victim following the incident, according to law enforcement. Sunday morning just before noon, authorities found the victim dead near the parking lot where the robbery occurred. The victim's name will not be released until his next of kin are notified.

Washington is also being charged with strong arm robbery, deputies said.
Authorities had First Avenue South closed Sunday afternoon from 73rd Street South to Park Street South for the investigation.
