Woman, 37, Arrested After St. Pete Shooting

St. Petersburg Police say a woman shot her live-in boyfriend in the chest Monday afternoon. Her arrest was announced Tuesday.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department has announced the arrest of a woman in connection with one of two shootings that were reported in the city on Monday. Officers say Jeannie Dorsey, 37, faces aggravated battery with a deadly weapon charges after allegedly shooting her live-in boyfriend once in the chest.

Dorsey’s arrest was announced Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. June 5 at a home in the 2500 block of 31st Street South. Officers who arrived on the scene found Jeremiah Mincy Jr., 36, suffering from a single gunshot wound. Mincy, an email from the police department said, told officers he had been shot by Dorsey.

Dorsey was taken into custody shortly after the shooting, the agency noted.

Mincy was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a wound that is believed to be not life threatening.

The first shooting reported on Monday took place around 12:30 p.m. In that case, shots were reported in the area of 15th Avenue South and 45th Street. When police arrived, they found a middle-aged man suffering from a gunshot wound, the agency reported Monday. The man in that case also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Further details about that case have not yet been released.
