An injured woman's call to police after the discovery of her boyfriend's body has prompted a suspicious death investigation.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — As St. Petersburg Police work to unravel details in the death of a 31-year-old man whose body was found Thursday evening, detectives have released some information in the case.
According to the agency, officers were called to a home in the 7700 block of 34th Avenue North around 5:41 p.m. May 4. The caller, Alicia Chamberlain, 30, told authorities she woke up to find her boyfriend, James Allen, dead on the porch.

“Chamberlain also reported that she had severe injuries to her body, but did not know who injured her,” a Friday morning email from police said.
When police arrived, they entered a backyard that was locked and fenced, the email noted. Once inside the yard, they found an injured Chamberlain and Allen’s body. Chamberlain was taken to a local hospital for treatment of critical, but not life-threatening injuries, the agency reported. The agency did not elaborate on the nature of Chamberlain's injuries.

Police say Chamberlain has only been able to provide limited information at this time due to her injuries. Even so, the agency does not “believe this was a random act,” the email noted. “The public is not in danger.”
No further information is being released at this time.
