Woman Shot Father During Custody Exchange Outside FL Sheriff’s Office
A woman was charged with attempted murder for shooting her father during a child custody exchange with his estranged wife, PSCO said.
LARGO, FL — A woman was charged with first-degree attempted murder after shooting her father during a Sunday morning child custody exchange with his estranged wife outside the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office administration building on Ulmerton Road, PCSO said in a news release.
Rogerio Nascimento, 47, of Valrico and his wife met up at the building just after 9 a.m. He was accompanied by his sister, while his wife was with their four minor children and a friend.
During the exchange, Rogerio, his sister and his wife were standing outside their vehicles in the parking lot and talking. Three of the four children were hesitant to leave the vehicle, detectives said.

Gabriella Nascimento, 28, who is also his daughter and has no known address, arrived separately around this time, got out of her vehicle and joined the conversation in the parking lot.

Not long after she got there, Gabriella approached her father with a semi-automatic gun and shot him in the back, the sheriff’s office said.
He ran toward the building as she chased after him, shooting at him a second time, but missing.
Rogerio entered the building’s lobby and asked for help, PCSO said. He was brought to a local hospital in critical but stable condition.
Gabriella fell on the sidewalk, placed her gun on the ground and then stood on the sidewalk near the parking lot until deputies took her into custody. She was booked into Pinellas County Jail.
