Acworth Gas Leak Evacuates Residents 2 Hours

Capt. Mark Cheatham tells Patch the "minor incident" was a ruptured gas line that resulted in "a few resident being evacuated from the area."

The evacuation, which lasted about two hours, affected School and Cherokee streets and Northside Drive. All roads were re-opened by 4 p.m.

A gas leak this morning forced a small evacuation north of downtown Acworth, according to WSB-TV.

Crews hit a gas line about 9:45 a.m. today in the area of School and Moon streets, according to the station.

A senior aerobic class at the community center had to be evacuated to City Hall.
