An Acworth man died overnight after police say he shot his wife several times before turning the gun on himself Thursday night.James Scott Bland, 47, died at WellStar Kennestone Hospital from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, police spokeswoman Youlanda Leverette said Friday morning. Police say Bland shot his wife three times before shooting himself in the family's home on Archer Place at approximately 6:45 p.m.Bland's wife is in intensive care at Kennestone, Leverette said. The couple's two children were not at home at the time of the shooting.Detectives are continuing the investigation into the incident. Anyone with information is asked to please call the Acworth Police Department at 770-974-1232.

Police say a husband shot his wife before shooting himself; the husband died overnight Friday.
