$19 Million In Cocaine Seized In GA From Pineapple Shipment
The drugs were hidden in the shipment that originated from Cartagena, Colombia.

SAVANNAH, GA -- U.S. customs officials seized more than $19 million in cocaine from a pineapple shipment that was coming into Savannah from Cartagena, Colombia. During an inspection, officers discovered 450 packages weighing 1,157 pounds concealed in the produce.
“This was an outstanding interception of narcotics by our CBP officers, “said Lisa Beth Brown, Savannah customs area port director. “This seizure is a positive enforcement action against drug smuggling organizations and highlights the important work our officers do each day to stop illegal activity at our borders and ports of entry.”
The cocaine had an estimated street value of $19,114,940.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency said on a typical day nationally, it seizes more than 5,000 pounds of drugs.
