7 Detained After Man, Teen Girl Shot In Atlanta: Authorities

Two people were shot, including a teenage girl, early Tuesday in northwest Atlanta, police say.

ATLANTA, GA -- A man and a teenage girl were shot in a home in northwest Atlanta early Tuesday, according to news reports. Seven people were detained in the shootings, which included an hours-long standoff, local media reports.

The double shooting took place at 1100 block of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard. The seven suspects are aged 14 to 23, according to WAGA-TV. The man was hit in the ankle and the 15-year-old girl was struck in the torso, according to WSB-TV. When police responded to the shootings, they believe the gunman fled into a nearby home, which led to the standoff about 1:30 a.m., police said.

Police spokesman Capt. J.D. Patterson. "Both victims were transported to Grady in good, stable condition," he told news cameras. "The suspects attempted to leave the dwelling, but the home was locked; he was unable to surrender, but minutes later he located at key," Patterson said.

Atlanta police reportedly found a high-powered pellet rifle inside the home, WAGA reports. Authorities are reportedly in the process of getting a search warrant for the home.
