• Atlanta police issue safety reminder after Facebook Marketplace sale turns violent (wsbradio.com) — Atlanta police are warning residents to be extra cautious when using Facebook Marketplace after a phone sale at a Pryor Road gas station turned violent and led to an arrest. Officers are urging people to meet in public, well-lit places, use police Safe Exchange Zones, bring a friend or share their location, and call 911 if anything feels unsafe.
   

• Wanted felon arrested after traffic stop over fake tag, pursuit, GSP says (wsbtv.com) — A wanted felon was arrested after a Friday night chase that began on I-20 near Flat Shoals Road and wound through Atlanta streets before ending at a home on Chestnut Hill Circle. Atlanta Police’s aviation unit helped Georgia State Patrol and DeKalb officers track the suspect after the pursuit was called off for a child’s safety. The man was taken to DeKalb County Jail.
   

• Clayton County superintendent to retire: ‘I leave with no regrets, but only gratitude' (fox5atlanta.com) — Clayton County’s longtime school superintendent, Dr. Anthony W. Smith, will retire on February 1, 2026, after nearly 40 years in public service. Raised in southwest Atlanta, Smith credits the community and district partners for gains in academics, facilities, and student opportunities. The school board fully supports his decision, but has not yet named an interim leader or launched a search.
