ATL Braves, World Series MVP Sued After Ball Hits Fan's Eye
A lawsuit against the Braves and outfielder Jorge Soler claims Soler threw a ball that injured a fan during the 2021 World Series.

ATLANTA, GA — A woman and her husband are suing the Atlanta Braves and 2021 World Series MVP Jorge Soler after claiming Soler threw a ball in the woman's direction during the championship game, injuring her eye.
The lawsuit, shared by Atlanta News First, was filed Wednesday in Cobb County Superior Court.
It states Mayra and Scott Norris were attending the 2021 World Series on Oct. 29, 2021, when Soler was an outfielder for the Braves as they took on the Houston Astros.

"At the top of the fifth inning, right before the game resumed, Defendant Jorge Soler, who was standing who was standing in the outfield not in close (proximity) at all to the stands, turned to the right field seats where they were sitting and threw the ball directly in Plaintiff M. Norris's direction. Defendant Soler threw the ball overhand, with great force, speed and intensity in the immediate direction of Plaintiff M. Norris," the lawsuit stated.
The ball hit Mayra Norris in her right eye, causing her "extensive and excruciating injury," the lawsuit claims, noting she was not afforded adequate time to react or avoid the hit.

At the time, the game was not in play, the lawsuit states. Mayra Norris received medical treatment and a Braves staffer made a report, the lawsuit states.
Mayra Norris requires long-term medical care and suffered emotionally from the hit while Scott Norris suffered a loss of "companionship, love, affection and intimacy in his marital relationship" as a result of his wife's injury, the lawsuit states.
The Norrises are requesting to be compensated in an undetermined amount, including costs covering past and future medical expenses, the lawsuit states.
According to his MLB profile, Soler is now an outfielder for the Miami Marlins.
