Man Shoots Self At ATL Airport, Faces Charges: Police (patch.com) — Atlanta travelers at Hartsfield-Jackson saw a scare Sunday when a 59-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the arm in the upper-level baggage claim, according to police. Airport operations continued without disruption, but the man, identified by police as Douglas E. Smith, now faces multiple firearm-related charges and will be taken to Clayton County Jail after hospital treatment.

Unborn Child Killed, 2 Injured In Atlanta Triple Shooting (patch.com) — Atlanta police are investigating a tragic triple shooting on the I-285 south ramp at Cascade Road that injured an 18-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man and killed the woman’s unborn child. Both surviving victims were taken to the hospital, while homicide detectives work to identify suspects and determine a motive.
   

3. Atlanta Housing names interim senior leader after previous leader arraigned (wsbtv.com) — Atlanta Housing has named longtime staffer Shannon Linsey interim senior vice president over the housing choice voucher program, a key service for many city residents. The leadership change follows the arraignment of former senior vice president Tracy Jones on fraud allegations tied to the program, as the agency works to stabilize oversight of one of the nation’s largest housing authorities.
   

4. Georgia Republican official joins State Election Board (kentucky.com) — A key Georgia GOP leader based in metro Atlanta is joining the State Election Board, which meets at the Capitol downtown and has been aggressively revisiting 2020 election issues and voting rules. Salleigh Grubbs, aligned with the Trump wing of the party, will help shape future election regulations and investigations that affect Fulton County and the rest of the state.

Lost engagement ring found at Atlanta's airport by 9-year-old (fox5atlanta.com) — A 9-year-old traveling through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport found a lost engagement ring near an escalator and turned it in to Delta’s Concourse A Sky Club. The family hopes to reunite the ring with its owner before Christmas and encourages anyone who thinks it’s theirs to contact Delta. Their act of honesty stood out amid the airport’s busy holiday rush.
